Press Release: Austrian Motors Ltd. From Austria To The U.S.

Press Release

Press Release – From Austria to the U.S.

Austrian Motors is another great American success story. Rudi and Josi Waldschuetz both grew up in Vienna, Austria. Rudi worked with an authorized Mercedes Benz repair facility in Vienna and studied mechanics for five years, moving impressively from Apprentice to Master Mechanic.

Rudi and Josi married and emigrated to the U.S. in November of 1970, where Rudi worked with an authorized M-B dealer in Baltimore until Josi’s sister and brother-in-law invited them to live in Atlanta in the fall of ‘71.

Rudi worked with an independent M-B repair facility until April of ’72, then operated a filling station from June of ’72 until a better location became available in May of of ’74. This is where Rudi and Josi started Austrian Motors, Ltd. This is also where, from a lot with a couple of trailers and gas pumps to the present building’s construction in ’83, the business still resides.

Press Release – The Business

Rudi and Josi worked tirelessly establishing their business and raising their children. Austrian Motors, an exclusive M-B repair business, prides itself in offering individualized customer service, consistent quality, excellent craftsmanship, competitive pricing and top-quality parts – having been an authorized Bosch Service Center for over 30 years.

The team at Austrian Motors expertly services both new and late models with the latest in MBUSA diagnostic tools and devices, as well as the older “classic” models (Josi still has a gorgeous ’59 220SE Ponton Cabriolet that Rudi purchased in ’76 as a “barn find” and subsequently restored it).

Their clientele not only includes residents and employees in the Mid-Town area, but several outlying areas that include Alpharetta, press release mr-sherlock-co-owner-austrian-motorsMarietta, McDonough, Douglasville, and even out-of-state clients.

Due to its unique location in Mid-Town West and to their dedication of outstanding customer service and quality of work, the business grew steadily and now includes eight service bays (seven of which have lifts), five loaner cars, a shuttle service, a sophisticated parts-location network, an after-hours drop box, slots for three well-trained technicians (one of which has been there for 41 years and another for 9 years), a parts manager, Lula the gracious receptionist /cashier /scheduler of eight years tenure, a critical “jack of all trades” who tends to many different needs (including shuttle service), and Sherlock – an elderly “rescue” black Labrador retriever who gently approaches customers with eyes and a face that would immediately convert anyone into an animal lover.

Press Release – Tragedy and Triumph

Sadly, Rudi passed in 1998 from an extended illness, presenting Josi with some difficult life decisions. Rudi and Josi were a closely-knit team of two, and with Josi’s long involvement in the business, her intelligence, personality, charm, and pure determination, she carried on. She has continued building on its success in less than favorable conditions.

Over the past five years, the area became known as Mid-Town West and is experiencing a renaissance that is having a very positive result on both established and new businesses, including tax benefits for artists and favorable zoning law changes to encourage establishment of “live/work/play” areas, all of which are attracting increasingly affluent residents.

Josi is not only a successful woman-business owner, but has been a long-time progressive champion of the area, and also served in ‘91 as Chairwoman of the International Women’s Association, affiliated with the Georgia Council for International Visitors (GCIV).

Press ReleaseJosi’s Message to MBCA Members

Josi invites you to get to know her and her business a little better after reading this press release by visiting their interactive website at www.austrianmotors.com. Wait for the website to change screens for more interesting and fun information before leaving.

As an incentive, Josi will extend a 10% discount to all MBCA members for the remainder of 2017. Just show your current membership card as proof of membership. She strongly  encourages M-B owners to drive their cars regularly vs. parking them for any extended period, to avoid costly mechanical problems resulting from lack of use.

Just as importantly, she strongly recommends keeping up with your M-B’s regularly scheduled maintenance, to ensure needed repairs are spotted and corrected on a timely basis vs. waiting for further damage to occur. See the Austrian Motors ad in this issue of Stars in Georgia, and stop by to meet Josi and her staff – including “Co-Owner” Sherlock, the rescue lab – when you’re in the area.
